Artists
SHIBATA Eiichi
Soap, 2006, Collection of Kobo-Syu
Shibata consistently creates works themed around soap bubbles. Recently inspired by the unique sensation and sound of drawing on canvas with ballpoint pens, he continues to produce his works with great enthusiasm. His art has been featured in exhibitions such as “Art Brut from Japan, Another Look“ (2018, Collection de l’Art Brut, Lausanne, Switzerland).
TSUSHIMA Kōya
FORGIVE, 2024, Collection of All Round
Tsushima creates art using ballpoint pens, acrylic paint, and crayons, exploring his inner self and following his heart’s inspiration. In addition to painting, he also writes novels and continues to create in various forms. His work has been featured in “The Nippon Foundation DIVERSITY IN THE ARTS The 3rd International Art Exhibition” (2021, Bunkamura Gallery / Wall Gallery, and elsewhere).
YANAI Yūki
Untitled, Date Unknown, Collection of Kobo-Syu
Yanai uses ballpoint pens of varying thicknesses to create square boxes, sharp lines, and smiling figures. He draws with intense focus, oblivious to his surroundings, sometimes listening to music while he works. His art has been featured in exhibitions such as “Contemporary Outsider Art REAL - What comes next for contemporary art?” (2019, GYRE GALLERY).
