Event Overview
Art Brut Then & Now—a new exhibition series that features artists long active in the Art Brut scene in Japan and abroad alongside artists newly emergent in recent years. In the first exhibition in the series, we examine artists who work with “letters.” Displayed in the exhibition, entitled LETTERS Tangling Unraveling, are works by eight artists who are fascinated and obsessed with letters.
With the exhibited works as a departure point, speakers from various professions, such as author, graphic designer or typeface designer, who work in a close connection to letters, will talk about the aspects of letters that appeal to them and the expression using letters.

Art Brut Then & Now is a series of exhibitions that presents, from a variety of angles, artists who have been active in the Art Brut scene in Japan and overseas for many years, alongside new artists who have been exhibited widely in recent years.
The first exhibition in the series, LETTERS Tangling Unraveling, presents eight artists who have been captivated and spellbound by letters.
