The video series “Motif Trekking” is an interactive program by the Tokyo Shibuya Koen-dori Gallery dedicated to individuals who have pursued diversity and inclusiveness in art since the 1990s, pioneering new fields with different motivations and exploring new settings and forms of expression. The program shines a spotlight on these pioneers and the trajectories of their careers.
Traveling back in time and focusing on the diverse mentalities and vibrant creativity of the featured individuals, each approximately 5-minute episode of the video program asks one of them to revisit their own key motifs, both the ones that motivated their activities and ones that newly emerge as themes when looking back on those activities.
