*You will be asked to sign a borrowing form, etc. at the time of participation.
Decorator Crab – Make Space, Use Space is a work that was created in 2022 to connect two simultaneous exhibitions of Iikawa Takehiro’s work at the National Museum of Art, Osaka and Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art, by having exhibition visitors transport a “Very Heavy Bag” on a cart between the two venues. Later that year, it also linked exhibitions at the Hakone Open-Air Museum and ACAO SPA & RESORT. The work gave participating visitors the unusual opportunity to carry an artwork out of the exhibition room, while also turning others who witnessed the scene into an unintentional audience. In the process, the world of art extends beyond the exhibition room, as places outside are transformed into sites of art viewing. Visitors’ actions expand the exhibition space, as well as continually create a new audience.
