Letter / Art / Project "TODOKU" is an art project which connects “me (here and now)” and “you (not here and now)” through diverse forms of indirect exchanges such as letters, postcards, or video letters. It started in 2020, and the 3 artists active in the field of contemporary art have explored many ways of communication while working together with people from different backgrounds. The “TODOKU” exhibition is the special exhibition to summarize this 3-year project. Let us show you the moment of encounter in which each individual’s thought, which is art, arrives at each other beyond time, distance, and each circumstance.

Project overview

After the coronavirus has been widely spread, we live our life which is new and different from what it used to be. Online tools like SNSs and Zoom are heavily used in interaction with other people, and it became common to get connected to people who live far away. But, in this Letter / Art / Project "TODOKU", we consciously avoided those kinds of real-time communication, and it was an experiment to connect time, place, and environment in which each individual lives to each other, by imagination generated from using non-face-to-face media. We hope that those hints will arrive (“TODOKU” in Japanese) at you who see the exhibition, someday and somewhere, even if slowly, which are about imagination, understanding, and empathy to others living in a different circumstance, which the modern society is losing by seeking for speed and convenience, and which were gained through this project.

Son-Takz is a comedy duo that's been around since 2017! They are Tanaka Sushi Robot (Tanaka Yoshiki), an artist, and Pet Losster Inoue (Inoue Morito), a filmmaker! If it is possible for popular comedians to hold art exhibitions, isn’t it possible to do solo exhibition at the museum for us too? …Even if we are unknown artists, if we become popular comedians. That's why Son-Takz was formed! We just recently realized that ratio of successful applicants and hard road in the comedy world than in the art world!!!

Schedule *The performance is about 20 minutes long. *Only in Japanese

Visitors are free to come and go as freely as they wish during the performance.

*Japanese sign language will be provided for performances on dates and times marked with ★.
